Maybank Treats Fair at the Mid Valley Mall

I was at the Maybank Treats Fair in the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre with my family yesterday. There is a reason why I have never been to the Mid Valley Mall more than 20 times. That place is a parking nightmare and the number of people there, its crazy! Anyway, after two laps around the complicated network of roads, I managed to get a parking space in The Gardens.

So why was I there, on a peak Saturday nonetheless... LOL. Well, you guessed it. My wife wanted to use some of the "treat points" (earned from using the Maybank credit cards) to exchange for a Halogen Cooker for 81,500 points. To my wife's credit, right after we got off the lift, she did not make any detour and we headed directly to the booth in the exhibition centre.

Halogen Cooker for 81,500 treat points, as advertised in the Maybank Treats Fair magazine.

When we reached the Vees Marketing Sdn Bhd's booth, the salesman told us that they ran out of stock, but we could filled up the forms to redeem it and they will shipped to us later. In the meantime, he asked my wife to look at another model, the Halogen Delicooker.

That was the time, I took the que to walk around and see what other stuff were being exhibited in the fair... LOL. After walking around, I found some pretty interesting stuff... :-)

The Robomop at work. Quite ingenious. But it's not for me... it cleans the floor, then I have to clean it... LOL.

iRobot Roomba vacuum is very interesting. I remembered my colleagues Julian, Mike and KC talking about getting one of these. Unfortunately, no direct redemption from points, only 0% interest monthly repayment scheme.

These are the videos I took to show how the iRobot Roomba vacuums and how it docks to recharges. Pretty cool I must say.

After walking around a couple more booths I decided to go check and see if my wife was done with the Halogen Delicooker demo. When I reached there, I saw my wife filling up some forms. I thought she was just filling up the form to redeem the Halogen cooker. When I asked her if she was done, she told me that she wanted to buy the Halogen Delicooker. I asked her how much and almost freaked out! The damn thing cost RM2800!

I dun care about any 0% bullshit or how much free gifts they wanna give, I was definitely not going to commit to something that I can totally do without. My gas stove is doing just fine.. LOL. I kept getting the distinct feeling that it was all a sales gimmick to use the Halogen Cooker as the bait to draw in consumers and then tell them that they do not have stocks, after which they would pitch other more expensive products.

In the end we agreed that we were just going to "redeem" points for products and not spend a single cent. To which, she immediately replied, "Lets go have a look at Ogawa products."

My spider-sense was tingling like mad!

The Magic Belt and the Hand-held massager.

After hanging around the Ogawa booth and trying out all the health and wellness massaging products for more than an hour, we left with a Magic Belt (for slimming the tummy) and a hand-held massager. Both items were redeemed for 52,000 points and 25,000 points respectively.

All in all, it was not a bad outing. We did not spend a single cent (except for the parking) and went home with some pretty cool stuff. I would call that a very successful shopping trip... won't you? LOL.

Btw, when I tried the hand-held massager on my arms (sore from training biketrials), I must say, treat points well spend!
